The humble back pack

Once seen as an accepted part of the geek/nerd/dork uniform, the back pack was synonymous with a certain typecast. An awkward person bumbling along clutching both straps tightly with sheer might. Fashion and style is a funny old thing. As some things which are deemed so unfashionable then gradually go full circle and come into vogue.

Nowadays, you can easily see many people sporting a back pack. Some out of necessity and others - just because they think it looks cool. They come in so many colours, styles and sizes these days. If you opened up many generic users lets say, East Paks (popular back pack make). It would probably contain a few menial bits as the back pack is merely just a fashion statement.

Chaps like the one here knew the true meaning of a trusty back pack and its use. He appears to have recently left a library and his bag is full of books (hence the happy look on his chops) Or, he is on his way for a productive day at University. Regardless of what his bag contains, I'm pretty sure it is not for fashion purposes.

Obviously, fashion is a subjective thing - with one persons like for something being the opposite to the next persons. With back packs it seems that this is a trend liked by many - especially for the hipsters and skaters amongst us. And perhaps the clones who just jump on anything that seems fashionably cool and 'happening'.

I love a back pack myself, as it's pretty practical and often adds to my look. So, am I just another person that likes it for fashion purposes as well as functional reasons. Which outweighs the other... hmm, who knows, who cares.

Geeks were on to a sure thing bringing the humble back pack to the fore.
