TGT: RnB Avengers

So, the burning question on everyone’s lips is who are TGT? Well, let me explain... RnB heartthrobs; Tyrese Gibson, Genuwine and Tank have formed a new RnB super group entitled: TGT. The name of the group is an acronym of the first letters of their names just like Jodeci, and Abba.

The three members who over the years have enjoyed a wealth of individual success and rather than going out to pasture like so many of their peers who co-inhabited the charts alongside them during an era of classic RnB in the Mid to late 90's and early 00's have decided to take on a quest far greater than any of them have faced before... bringing back real RnB.

In an interview Tyrese Gibson stated: "The group will be the ultimate RnB fan experience. Me, Tank and Genuwine have been talking about this forever."

Let’s look at the stats:

Tyrese Gibson also known as Black Ty (34).
Singer, songwriter, actor, model, author.
American music award and Black Reel award winner
Grammy nominee
Hit singles include: Sweet Lady, How you gonna act like that
I like them girls and Stay.
Tyrese is also a mega movie star playing respectable roles in such films as;
Baby Boy, Fast and furious, Transformers and Four Brothers.

Genuwine, real name: Elgin Lumpkin (42).
Singer, songwriter, dancer, actor.
Soul Train award winner and Grammy nominee
Hits include; Pony, When doves cry (Prince cover) and Differences.
Genuwine also sang 'In those jeans' which was quite a tune but was never a billboard smash.

Tank, real name: Durrell Babbs (37).
Singer, songwriter, model.
Hits include: Maybe I deserve, Please don't go and Next breath.
Tank has not been given any prestigious awards to date but he has been shortlisted for Grammy nominations in the past.

TGT's first single “Never Felt Better" is a smooth, slow reminder of the way things were. They share a verse each and explain in detail, not only with harmonious serenading but with video clips of their vigorous thrusting and gyrating hips, just how they intend on rocking (and I suspect) a previously unsatisfied women's world. There is even a bit of pre T-Pain west-coast style auto-tune on there to really set the mood for a 90's RnB revival.

The group have actually been planning this courageous crooning crusade for some time but due to their individual record label commitments have had trouble getting those cruising rims in motion, forcing them to reschedule their eagerly anticipated "Shirts Off" tour for a later date (TBC).

Watch this space...

David, TGT no TCC (sorry, wishful thinking).
