A mid summer nights entertainment

 Recollections of a past trip

As the sun began to lazily set on the Catalonian city, the temperature dropping slightly. We returned to the harbour - where we had been when then the sun shone brighter and the atmosphere a little livelier.

They were still performing. Their music swirled through the night air. The nearby boats stood still, the water resting and calm. We had stayed there for a while earlier to watch and enjoy this quite unique act. They called themselves The Pull Up Orchestra.

A Swiss collective - with a twist. A female singer, a male rapper and an accomplished brass band.  They covered contemporary songs, singing in English and French. Sprinkling their own flavour upon them like an artistic chef - which was a musical feast to behold.

I had never experienced anything like this before. I wore a permanent smile and my foot tapped along. My friends and I were impressed. Along with the crowd, all of us were being treated to scrumptious music - resulting in everybody present revelling in the vibe and atmosphere.

This musical show was all part of the annual Buskers Festival.

Free music being performed around the city. Impromptu locations dotted here and there, inviting an assortment of individuals to come and take delight. They duly obliged.

We saw a few acts, but this band stood out the most. Like a lighthouse on top of a supermarket. They shone bright and beckoned many people towards them. As I recollect; they performed so many versions of popular songs. They also incorporated their own original music. A fresh palette of songs that we had never heard before.

The warm summer air and picturesque location embraced one another like long lost friends. Making this occasion even more memorable. All of these special ingredient's served to make a tantalisingly potent cocktail. A delicious treat for the senses.

Eventually, the singing and linguistic poetry finished. The brass band stopped playing, and the show concluded. Which coincided with the sun finally setting, drawing the curtains on a day of sun shine and music.

We left to return to our hotel...

Having enjoyed a mid summer nights entertainment.
