"Work hard to make your quotes go out of date." Joshua
"I will always have two regrets. I don't have a presence in London, and I would have liked to have done more work in the middle east." Zaha Hadid.
Well thankfully, that quote is now officially out of date. The legendary middle eastern female architect that is Zaha Hadid has now plonked a spaceship right here in East London.
It's the swimming pool that featured in the 2012 London Olympics called The London Aquatics Centre. It's now officially open to the public and also has a gym which the public can also join.
This brilliant piece of architecture is sleek and subtly commands your attention. It employs various contrasting materials, which naturally compliment each other. The use of expansive glass that sits where walls would normally be allows you to see right through the structure and back out into the surroundings.
It's a truly beautiful and functional structure. After all, this isn't some random official building only accessible to you if you just so happen to be a Freemason. This is just a local swimming pool and gym. Nothing less... but a whole lot more.
A significant piece of architecture that London can be proud of.
