This winter
This omnipresent winter – like a marauding street gang has
muscled in on spring’s territory and has now got its beady eye on summer’s
patch.
This unforgiving winter – like a militia of pillaging rebels has swarmed
in upon our land sending in a barrage of blizzards and strong spurts of snow
storms leaving innocent civilians shaking and sneezing with snivelling colds
and spluttering coughs, the relief mission has been extremely costly as lemons,
honey and ginger fly off the shelves and heating bills are sky high.
This unrelenting
winter – like an international cooperation has launched a major takeover of
the whole business of autumn and has sold off all of its shares and bulldozed
its property.
This unapologetic winter –
like an autocratic dictator has made an enemy of those that it claims to serve
and appears not to be letting up in its over lording onslaught. What allies do we
have? What weapons can be used in counteraction? Do we have a choice?
This tempestuous
winter – like a savage beast has ravaged through our towns and cities; feasting
on fingers, toes, ears and noses until it is satisfied with its supper. There is
a predicted change of climate on the horizon, followed by thunderstorms. Time
will only tell.
