The government must think I'm stupid

I walk past this every day and I am astounded that the British government could be so brazen to put the Stargate Porthole right in the middle of Stratford.

The unsuspecting public may happily think this is a simple piece of street furniture, or even perhaps art... It's clear to me this is a case of cleverly hiding something of national security in plain sight.  (Remember Men in Black?)

Fortunately I haven't seen it fill up with a wall of water yet.
