Lianne La Havas - Review
Hushed tones stipulated that her music would infiltrate the listeners bones. She would possess a voice rich in tone, sweet as pure honey, dripping with sincerity, speaking of real and interesting topics.
The name that lingered on the lips was Lianne La Havas. A musician that exudes quality and dexterity.
Sometimes we need to rummage through the rubble and rubbish that can be the modern day music scene if we are to find true gems. Ones that shine through the mire. The whispers that I had heard on the grapevine proved to be true. The leaking of songs before the album was purchased only served to wet an already thirsty disposition. One of which needed quenching.
The debut album she has delivered to us calls itself - Is Your Love Big Enough.
Already, the title alone intrigues the listener. Track one cements the bubbling hype that had been brewing within the music world. Miss La Havas opens up with an introductory hello and welcome to my world in the form of a seriously compelling song that instantly engages the ear and senses. "Dont Wake Me Up." You couldn't possibly fall asleep to a melodic and catchy song such as this.
The album rolls along in a beautifully succinct manner. I can not fault any particular song, as they are all too accomplished. However, with most albums favourites can often jump out at you. "No Room For Doubt" ft Willy Mason, is easily one of the most succulent tracks in this collage of art. The two singers collaborating to showcase their unquestionable talent and poise with effortlessly sweet vocals. "Elusive." was like a cardiac arrest resuscitation shock to the ears. The beat, lyrics and melody make for probably my stand out song on the entire album. Quite simply fantastic.
Is your love big enough... For Lianne's music, yes, and it continues to grow.
