The play
The regularity of our meetings had begun to falter somewhat.
We are of course a group made up of busy individuals and life in these
circumstances has a habit of getting in the way. We managed eventually to
re-convene at the usual place and at the usual time.
We caught up. I had written a scene, a possible draft for our opening act.
Naturally, the scene needed to be read to the group and subsequently discussed;
picked apart, perhaps even scrutinised for all its worth. The clock ticked increasingly louder as I listened to my words being read out aloud… They liked it.
When we returned we continued to discuss the opening scene,
it was indeed picked apart and a few possible tweaks and adjustments were brought to light. As we went
on, further ideas began to sprout like shoots of grass from the soil of
creativity. All in all we had made another positive breakthrough - and in
particular a rather encouraging one for me.
