Darren's new job

A group of friends met up and hit a few bars around Liverpool Street to celebrate the man of the hour.
Darren had just received the green light a few hours ago to present the sports segment live during the BBC news breakfast show.

Darren and his boys were football fanatics and general all round sports fans.  This was epic.  The BBC had never employed someone who was so young, fresh, and who also eerily resembled Trey Songz to present sports on their network at anytime, let alone prime time morning breakfast slots repeatedly throughout the morning breakfast show every weekday.

"I got this." Darren replied to his boys as he ordered bottles of Ciroc and Verve Cliquot.  These guys were dapper. Sharp suits, ties removed and top buttons undone, the guys reclined across black suede Chesterfield sofas as they sipped from the bottle.

"To Darren and his new job on TV! You smashed it bruuuuuuv!!!" Joe shouted, which was met with a loud raucous cheer from the rest of the lads.

*The scene fades out to black*

*The camera focused in on Darren's confused face pans out and reveals him sitting in the BBC studios*

Darren had no recollection of last night, and barely remembered his escorted drive into the studios.

"Now over to Darren with the sports."  The main TV news anchor said as the cameras swung over to Darren.

Darren hadn't rehearsed. He didn't even watched, or noted any of the previous days football matches, or sporting fixtures. Darren had failed to prepare. So he prepared to fail. Live on national TV. An outer body experience ensued.

Darren, silent for an awkward two seconds, swallowed saliva that wasn't there while looking into the camera with his pupils fully dilated. He then said the following which would forever go down in history...

"Yes... In the premier league... there were results... in every match."

(This was followed by 12 seconds of awkward silence which on live TV felt more like 5 minutes).

The main anchor quickly intervened and they went straight to weather.

Needless to say this was Darren's first and last day as the sports anchor for the BBC morning breakfast show.
