Jay Z drops documentary "Where I'm From"

With Jay Z recently turning 43, a short documentary has been released which covers the hype surrounding the opening of the Barclays Centre, which is home to his basketball team in which he is part owner.

The footage basically covers his eight shows done back to back to inaugurate the centre, as well as a comical yet poignant interaction with an old granny on the subway - which takes place on the way to his last show at the venue.

You can't help but see that Jay is a mastermind of perpetuating his legendary status socially as well as financially, and is probably not as 'illumanti' as the media would have you think.

He's just the first rapper of yesteryear to maintain a career without getting himself killed, but at the same time capitalize on his status and migrate into the business world off the back of it.

Jay is one of one. Old school, and still breathing to dominate the new school.  Tupac or Biggie would have been doing the same if they were still alive. Tupac, probably would have gone down the Hollywood route. An already proven talented actor with a budding career blossoming, (acting makes way more money compared to music and holds a way more powerful status). Biggie would have no doubt dominated music similarlarly to his Brooklyn native Jay, with Diddy dancing right behind him whispering ideas of endorsing vodka and cologne...

Jay Z managed to escape the violence of yesteryear in hiphop.  The boy from Marcy who crept to the top to become a 43 year old rapping enigma that has Obama on speed dial, is beginning to give LL a run for his money as the greatest of all time.
