Tales from the coffee shop - New surroundings

New shores, different  faces, different language. The language that she wanted to learn and master.

A coffee shop had caught her dark coloured eyes as she innocently wandered around the bustling city centre absorbing new surroundings.Making her way in she politely ordered a tea in her best English, which made her feel proud. She had nervously been stood in a queue for a few moments, practising exactly what she needed to say in her mind.  And when she did - it sounded pretty authentic. Requesting a tea, plus adding "Good afternoon;" were all part of speaking good English she told herself.

Sat down, she looked at the various English faces and tried to listen into some conversations - in the attempt to decipher what was being said. Making out some words was at times like trying to hold onto a frog. As the majority of dialogues did not make much sense to her Iberian mind. They spoke so quickly, and the meshing of local accents and dialects went straight over her deeply dark hair. They certainly did not speak like the man and woman on her English language CD.

An older lady sat nearby saw her looking about with the look of a new person about town. She smiled and greeted her with a warm, "hello, and how are you?" Smiling a big smile back, the dark haired female replied: "Very well, thank you very much, have a good day."

Looking slightly bemused, the older lady grinned a yellow toothed smile before turning her attentions elsewhere. The coffee shop ran as usual, a steady stream of customers coming and going. Rain gently tapped on the windows outside as the clouds slowly congregated together.
