The Newsroom

Welcome to the most intelligent tv series to ever hit the small screen.

Created by Aaron Sorkin, the show is based on a complex and diverse news team, headed by a controversial but highly intelligent anchor, Will McAvoy played by Jeff Daniels for major channel ACN.

Him and his back room staff are on a mission to deliver news to the people, for the people.  This is slightly tricky when the owners of the network itself have political friends in high places and advertising giants which they need to appease.

The genius of this show is the intelligence of it.  The characters often exchange quick paced sentences packed with so much wit, sarcasm and fact that you are better off watching it alone.  Another masterstroke of this show, is that it is based on actual news events that we have all witnessed in the past year or so.

I wont comment on what those events are so as not to spoil it for you... but its extremely gripping just watching what possibly goes on behind the scenes of a major american news network.  The cast is brilliant and the complexities of everyones characters is a joy to watch.  This is like watching a musical orchestra, everyone from the conductor to the guy in the back with the triangle plays their part.

There's all types of personalities on display from a nerdy geek played by Dev Patel who is convinced aliens and big foot do exist, to Will McAvoy himself... a highly complex individual dealing with major internal issues.

This clip is barely minutes into the opening scene of the first episode where Will McAvoy has a public melt down on live television when pushed about his personal views on America...

I haven't missed an episode since.
