Love in a minute

I tripped over and fell in love in a second

The buzz lasted about a minute

It passed so quickly, the feeling was fleeting

So, perhaps, in retrospect it wasn't really love

I lay there pondering about this situation

Arriving at the conclusion that it was simply lust

That old chestnut

I checked my pockets for something worthwhile

Nothing, meaningless and empty

I lingered for a moment or two

Then rose to my feet

Instantly, I saw a prettier person

Who captured my attention

She was walking across the street
