Hong Kong goes into meltdown!
"The animal struggle is real..." To be honest I hadn't really dwelt on the plight of the animal kingdom. But, come to think of it - I should have been more aware and perhaps sympathetic to the way in which many animals regularly go through terrible ordeals for various reasons.
At TCC we are known for reporting on a multidude of irrelevant things that can often involve animals. Usually ones that have, well, done unsavoury things to the human race. Well now the tables have turned and we will discuss, or relate an unfortunate story of a wild boar from Hong Kong who clearly had issues and after a bit of bedlam tried to escape to freedom to only be shot with a tranquilser gun.
OK, so the account of boar related antics in the Far East began last Wednesday. So first we had sighting of a wild boar acting suspiciously in front of the nearby Conrad International Hotel. (It is unconfirmed whether the boar was carrying an overnight bag or not). This sighting begs the question; why was such an animal hanging around outside of a hotel?
Another incident involving a boar was when one unwittingly got momentarily trapped in a clothes shop in Hong Kong. Apparently an eye witness said they saw the boar clambering up a ladder before falling through the shops roof. An unnamed individual said as soon as it fell to the floor it jumped up and began to run around the store, knocking over mannequins and signs. The shops manager told a local newspaper that the boar had seemingly come out of nowhere and was going bananas.
"It also pushed open the fitting room door and got in - pigs are actually not stupid." If boars or pigs, for that matter are not stupid why didn't this one just walk in through the front entrance?! (And I dread to think of how the person in the fitting room reacted on getting changed for the doors to be burst open to have a perverted pig staring at you in your underwear).
For the uninformed, boars are fairly common in Hong Kong's rural areas, and can become aggressive when confronted, a boar expert has claimed. So if you happen to spot a wild boar anytime soon please do not approach it. Moving on, according to reports it hasn't been confirmed nor denied that the boar that was seen loitering outside of the hotel was the same one that went bezerk in the clothes shop. Hoof prints were taken as one would expect and statments given to the police but at the time it was unknown whether the two boar accounts amounted to the same animal. To be frank - who really cares? However, if you do care it is highly likely that it was the same one that was on the alleged run - as boars rarely stray into populated areas. (Unless, as it appears they are going shopping or indeed planning to check themselves into a plush hotel for the night).
This wild animals behaviour quickly gripped the nation as the Hong Kong police chased the portly creature around the shop and (out of it) only stopping to take photos, (because that's what you do in the Far East, take photos). Live tweets were also sent as the boar scurried about panicking, no doubt wondering where to hide out hence the plausible explanation of why it was spotted outside of a hotel. Reports also add that at times the police would get the boar into a corner for it to only evade them again. (Perhaps pigs are clever after all). Or the police were just clowns.
Eventually, after much trouble a man shot the animal with a tranquilizer gun and subsequently the pig (squealed) before it was promptly taken to an intensive animal rehabilitation centre, where it was presumably treated for shopping addiction and substance abuse. (Traces of mud were found around the boars nostrils). After a stint of getting cleaned up the boar was realised back into the wild.
