The Great Gatsby
This man, for me, is a truly magnificent actor. From child to teen to adult he has done what so few can manage; pass through these acting stages seamlessly. Macaulay Culkin is on such example of a child actor who, well, anyway... Leonardo Di Caprio is back with what looks like another box office smash with his portrayal of H. H. Holmes in the movie adaptation of the novel: The Great Gatsby.
Centring around the early 1920's, 'The Roaring Twenties' an era which was coined as a prosperous time in the United States of America. The book was critically acclaimed and has subsequently been a very popular piece of literature for many years. Speaking of a time post first world war in which gin was the national drink and sex a national obsession gives a interesting insight into how that generation behaved which draws comparisons to today's culture.
Esteemed director, Baz Luhrmann, has taken the reigns to this film - and from the enticing trailer it is obvious that this body of work carries the hall marks of a quintessional Baz Luhrmann production. A feast for the eyes and senses - plus with 3D being the main currency these days - it is only natural that The Great Gatsby will also be in 3D.
Leonardo, already has previous experience of working with Mr Lurhrmann as they collaborated in 1996 to create a modern day twist on Romeo and Juliet. That film for me annouced Baz Luhrmann's visionary take on a subject matter.
So, with that said and with hip hop super power Jay.Z overseeing the musical arrangement - I am certain this film is one to watch in the fast approaching new year.
