My perfect Sunday afternoon

Sundays. I usually want to do something, and get out the house. However, with Monday morning hanging over my head like a bad cloud, I like to take it easy and do something not too demanding.

Recently, me and the Missus decided to go down to Shoreditch in east London, specifically, the 'Boxpark'.

The Boxpark, consists of a bunch of black shipping containers side by side and on top of each other. The containers are ingeniously rented out to various companies as shop spaces. Some brands are very well known, such as Nike and Samsung. Mostly, the companies that inhabit the Boxpark are lesser known fashion boutiques, many of which come and go every couple of weeks or months in a 'Pop-up' format.

This adds to the excitement and buzz around the park. A unique, striking and ever changing landscape of brands ensure things never become stagnant. The shops all stock things you'd be hard pressed trying to find elsewhere. The Nike store had me absolutely giddy. It's brilliant interior decor had massive vintage picture frames complete with actual trainers hanging by their shoelaces inside. It stocked unique colourways of trainers that I had never even come across, not even online. Wall to wall shelves of trainers, and a wall of nostalgic old Nike posters and advertisements.

The park has an open central space upstairs that is often used for free, sociable, interactive, marketing events. For instance, they screened the series finale of the cult show 'Breaking bad' on big screens while dishing out free 'blue meth' candy to all those in attendance, who were happily jamming and chilling on the provides bean bags.

Many of the shops in the park embrace this philosophy of 'freeness', by giving away tasty treats, beers, tequila and other random goodies. If I was homeless and hungry, Id probably relocate my cardboard box somewhere nearby and live happily ever after.

The park also has a few eateries such as the West Indian food chain 'Cottons', and a tasty looking Thai spot, aswell as an open air bar or two.

The park is surrounded by bold, larger than life graffiti that scales entire buildings and demands your attention. There's so much of it, it's almost appears to be legal in this area on London. It certainly gives the area a perfect backdrop, since Shoreditch is the spiritual home to flocks for fashionistas, musicians and photographers.

The air is electric, vibrant and yet laid back and friendly. Everyone is relaxed, and simply soaking up or adding to the atmosphere. The many local bars and pubs can't hurt either. With Brick Lane round the corner... this area is what Sunday afternoons were made for.

Here are some snaps I captured from my inspiring and relaxing 'perfect afternoon' down at the Boxpark.
